CUPS is seeking an experienced Family Support Worker/Coach to join our winning Family Development Support Team. You will play a key role supporting CUPS Families living with the adversity of poverty and traumatic events achieve self-sufficiency through a Trauma Informed lens.

 

Qualifications:     The successful candidates MUST have a post-secondary degree in Social Work, with a minimum of 3 years related experience. The ideal candidate would demonstrate strong leadership skills, a commitment to evidence based practice and the ability to work in a team environment. This individual must have an understanding of poverty and homelessness, and possess excellent communication and conflict resolution skills. The assignment will require collaborative planning and will be an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Description:     Family Development Coaches will actively engage community resources to build a seamless transition for our families that utilize our services within CUPS. This position will work collaboratively as part of a larger support network within CUPS.

This position works within our Family Development Centre partnering with our program by providing a safe and stimulating environment for parents and children to deliver:

Nurturing Parent curriculum on one-on-one basis in the home to teach and practice appropriate parenting skills.
Access families using specific screenings and assessment tools appropriately.
Collaborate with the Child Development Specialist in assessing children's developmental milestones and carry out an early intervention plan for both parents and children.
Developing appropriate goals and intervention plans as it pertains to the Nurturing Parent curriculum utilizing a client centred approach.
Support fathers' involvement in goal setting, interventions, and CUPS programming.
Provide effective case management
This individual will have a strong working knowledge of systems and general instrumental needs analysis, be a self-starter with at risk situations, have a familiarity of CUPS programs and be able to effectively collaborate within the community. This person must be mobile and will be accountable for home visits regularly.

This position assists our families to help foster a sustainable environment with strong case management through outcome measurement and evaluation (through family assessment) goal setting, advocacy with social service workers, and to help connect participants with required services when they have been unsuccessful themselves. Responsibilities also include, and not limited to: Family Development reception and client waiting areas, acting as triage for programs and services by communicating information to clients with continued support from the Community Support team, and providing support to all CUPS programs and departments. Additional responsibilities will include assisting with referrals and provisions for basic needs.
