The Department of Child Studies and Social Work invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, which will commence July 1, 2017, subject to final budgetary approval.

The Department currently offers a degree in Child Studies with majors in Child and Youth Care Counsellor and Early Learning and Child Care as well as a two-year diploma in Social Work. The Social Work diploma is the entry credential for social work practice in Alberta; graduates are eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers.


Qualifications:     A PhD in Social Work (completed or ABD), an MSW with a minimum of five years social work practice experience, experience teaching at the post-secondary level, and eligibility for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers is required. Scholars with Indigenous perspectives, knowledge, and experience are encouraged to consider this opportunity. Preference will be given to candidates with Indigenous social work practice, and community based scholarship. Applicants interested in the teaching/scholarship/service pattern should have the ability and intent to pursue a research program.
Description:     New faculty are hired into one of two work patterns. The teaching/scholarship/service pattern has a focus on teaching with the requirement that the faculty member be involved in a research program as well as service to the Mount Royal community. The teaching/service pattern has a focus on teaching and service only. There is an option to change work patterns after tenure.
