Saffron Centre Contract Therapist
This is a part-time contract position (10-15 hours per week: combination of flexible days, and/ or 2 evenings, or 1 evening plus half day Saturdays) under the supervision of the Counselling Program Director. All work at Saffron Centre will reflect the Mission Statement and philosophical beliefs of the organization.
|Qualifications:||Minimum Required Qualifications:
Graduate degree in Counselling, Psychology, or Social Work (MSW must be licenced for Clinical psycho-social interventions)
Must be either Registered Psychologist, or Clinical Social Worker and hold registration in good standing with their licencing body
Criminal Records check, Children’s Services Intervention check, and professional insurance required
Experience in counselling children, adolescents, and adults (individual, family, group);
Knowledge and understanding of the assessment and treatment of issues surrounding the effects of sexual violence.
Registration (or qualified to be registered) as a Mental Health provider with First Nations and Inuit Health will be an asset to this position.
To provide crisis intervention in the form of crisis calls and counselling (emergency appointments and scheduled appointments);
Provision of crisis intervention, holistic assessment, and on-going therapy for:
Children (girls and boys, 4 1/2-17 years of age) of incest or extra-familial sexual abuse, and their non-offending family members
Adult survivors of sexual assault/ abuse (18 years and older) and their non-offending family members
Opportunities to co-facilitate groups for adults may be available
To maintain client files and statistics as outlined in Saffron’s Policy and Procedures Manual and according to ethical guidelines of therapist’s registering body; to submit quarterly counselling statistics to the Counselling Program Director;
To provide support, training, and mentoring to volunteers and/or students doing crisis intervention and group facilitation as directed by the Counselling Program Director;
To attend individual supervision, staff meetings, departmental case consultation, and staff in-services;
To be aware of current literature regarding sexual assault to the best of your ability;
To adapt crisis intervention skills to reflect changes in the literature and the social environment as determined by the Counselling Program Director and the Executive Director;
Function as a member of the counselling program team and the Saffron team in general;
Other appropriate duties as assigned by the Counselling Program Director and the Executive Director.
