|Qualifications:||Preferred candidates will hold a PhD in Social Work; however, candidates with a PhD ABD are encouraged to apply. All applicants must have an MSW, minimum 3 years in social work teaching, substantive social work practice experience, and be eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).
|Description:||The School of Social Work in the Faculty of Health and Community Studies at MacEwan University has a long history of preparing high quality social work professionals in Alberta from the two-year diploma program. In September 2016, the School of Social Work launched the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) making MacEwan the only Alberta University to offer both diploma and undergraduate baccalaureate programs in social work.
The School of Social work in the Faculty of Health and Community Studies invites applications for 2 tenure track appointment(s) at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing July 2018, subject to final budgetary approval.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong teaching skills, a commitment to social justice, ethical social work practice, a passion for teaching undergraduate students, and a willingness to engage in service to the program, university and community. Applicants will have knowledge in adult learning theory, curriculum design, and the capacity to teach in multiple learning environments. Faculty members teach a broad range of social work courses across the curriculum in both the BSW and Diploma programs. In particular, the successful candidate will have expertise in macro social work theory and practice, clinical social work theory and practice with communities, families and individuals, and family violence. The successful candidates will potentially teach in both the BSW and Diploma programs and will have a substantial role in field placement.

Applicants selected for an interview will be asked to submit a statement of their teaching philosophy, provide evidence of content expertise, along with the capacity to engage in scholarly activity. Successful applicants will be required to complete a 30-minute teaching demonstration in addition to the interview. A teaching topic will be provided once candidates are short-listed.
