An excellent opportunity for Social Work or Youth Worker students to gain exceptional experience

 

Reporting to the Program Director, the Casual Youth Worker (Case Aide) will:

  • Provide in-home support and community access for three teenaged girls during off-school hours.
  • Only FEMALE applicants will be considered for this position.
  • Help clients connect with community resources & support networks.
  • Follow prescribed case management plans, including maintaining accurate client file & program documentation and record of client activities and consulting on case files.
  • Represent WJS family support services in a professional manner with Alberta Family and Social Services and the community.
  • Assist in evaluating service deliverables and contribute information/recommendations for improvements.

 

Qualifications:     **All applicants must provide a current (within 3 months) Criminal Record Check and Ministry Check prior to confirmation of employment with WJS Canada. These checks can take up to 6 weeks to obtain, please prepare accordingly.

The successful Casual Youth Worker (Case Aide) applicant must possess:
• Enrolled in or completed a Diploma or Degree in Social Work, Youth Worker, Community Support Worker, etc.
• Prior Youth Work, family intervention or related social work experience
• Valid Alberta Driver’s License (no restrictions Ex. Not GDL), reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance, & clean driver abstract
• Clear Criminal Record and Child Welfare Intervention check
• Valid First Aid / CPR Certificate
• Suicide Intervention and Prevention Training and cultural sensitivity
• Experience working with computer software systems
Required Skill and Abilities:
• Knowledge of child development, positive discipline strategies and family dynamics.
• Able to develop & maintain good relationships with support networks, outside agencies and community resources
• Knowledge of aboriginal culture is an asset
• Highly motivated, and able to work independently; Adaptability and flexibility
• Good writing skills
