Reporting to the Area Manager of Addiction & Mental Health, the Clinical Supervisor is responsible for the daily clinical operations of the Addiction and Mental Health Services in Area 1. Providing strong leadership to an inter-disciplinary team, this position coordinates and facilitates daily activities, ensuring effective use of resources. Duties include supervising clinicians, providing leadership and coaching to assist staff with professional development and achievement of service/program goals. Further duties include taking a broad view of operations and patient/client service delivery and following through on issues that impact the quality of services provided. Through membership on the North Zone Best Practice Committee, the Clinical Supervisor has opportunity to provide input on development of policy, procedures and practice standards, and then ensures compliance at the operational service level. The incumbent contributes to the monitoring and developing of the operating plan; leads quality and risk management activities of the unit/service/program and engage in program and community development.
In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Northern Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $6,300. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.
|Qualifications:||• Completion of master's degree in Social Work or Psychology.
• Active or eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP) or the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).
|Description:||As a Clinical Supervisor, you will participate in the planning, implementation and evaluation of mental health treatment services in a hospital setting or in the community. You will provide leadership in the supervision of clinical staff, promote and recommend best practices and standards and work collaboratively with members of the interdisciplinary team, psychiatrists and community partners to coordinate the highest quality of care to clients and their families presenting with cognitive and/or behavioural issues in addiction to other complex mental health cases. Your core responsibilities include efficiently managing the triage, treatment and discharge processes and workload assignment; determining client suitability; observing clinical sessions; conducting team case consultations and offering support; providing guidance and direction to clinical staff with challenging and urgent cases in a timely manner. You will also be required to consult and liaise with external agencies as appropriate in addition to developing relationships and collaborating with key stakeholders such as community agencies and referral sources. You will also assume a leadership and supervisory role in which they will be responsible for participating in program development and evaluation, identifying process gaps and risk management issues, ensuring high standards of service delivery through collaborative participation, providing input to management for the annual performance of clinical staff, participating in interviewing clinical staff and staff orientation in addition to assessing clinical competencies and providing varied learning opportunities to staff. You will be required to maintain and develop his/her own professional clinical and supervisory competencies through participation in a variety of learning opportunities such as seminars, workshops and conferences.|
