In this unique position you will be asked to work closely with a subspecialist Psychiatrist, to assist in completing biopsychosocial assessments in an outpatient psychiatric setting;
The typical assessments are completed for the purposes of fitness for duty and medico-legal reports.
As part of this position, you will further be asked to assist Dr. Els to compile and review psychiatric histories, interview employees, and (under direct supervision) complete relevant psychological testing. In-service training is available in an ongoing fashion.

This unique opportunity allows for a great degree of independence and self-directed work, while at the same time offering supervision from an Social Worker (MSW level) as well as a Psychiatrist. An annual educational stipend is negotiable for attendance of a national conference of your choice.
Qualifications:     Diploma, Bachelor’s, or Master's Degree in Social Work from an accredited School of Social Work.
Experience working in, or an interest in mental health settings is preferred, but not a requirement.
Working knowledge of the DSM-5 is recommended.
Full registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW) is required.
Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate is preferred.

Description:     Join a small team of existing health professionals in downtown Edmonton;
Work closely with an Addiction Psychiatrist / Occupational Psychiatrist and Social Worker in completing comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments in a psychiatric setting, mental status examinations (MSE), and necessary psychological testing;
Obtain collateral information from relevant sources;
Maintain accurate assessment documentation of relevant information in accordance with company policy standards to meet regulatory and legal requirements and provide evidence and rationale to support findings and treatment plan such as compiling pertinent background information for clinical case planning and collecting information to assist the practice psychiatrist in the preparation of reports for the Courts and for lawyers;
Support Dr. Els in compiling written reports and summaries as per policy, standards and guidelines;
Maintain excellent working relationships with referral sources.
