Outpatient Clinical Services provides individual and family therapy along with specialized assessments for families and individuals in need within the Calgary area. Campus and Community Mental Health Programs serve significantly at-risk children, youth and families in need of out of home supports.

Reporting to the Program Manager, the Senior Clinician will provide triage and coordination of therapeutic and placement referrals, assessment and treatment services as part of the outpatient clinical team, and clinical consultation.

Our Learning Centres (*in partnership with CBE) offer opportunities for achieving academic, social and emotional success to young people and families who have had previous unsuccessful school experiences and have lost or are at risk of losing their community school placement.

 

Starting Points:  Counselling support for students in seven Calgary schools, in partnership with Calgary Separate School District.

 

George Wood*:  Bowness campus school for youth in intensive/community-based residential care.

 

William Taylor*:  Day-treatment school for community youth, and youth in residential care, at Parkdale Campus.

 

Children’s Village (CVS)*:  A day-treatment community-based school in Renfrew for children 4-12 years who exhibit severe emotional and behavioural difficulties.

 

The School Support Counsellor is responsible for front-line care of young people admitted to Wood’s Homes school settings. The School Support Counsellor works collaboratively with various school personnel and liaises with the young person’s family and community.

This program provides Family Support Services within the Collaborative Services Delivery model in collaboration with the Ministry of Children’s Services at the Forest lawn office. All families have identified child protection issues and the work includes intact families and those with children in care. The Clinician’s role has two main components; one is the delivery of assessment and consultation under the Brief Intervention for Caregivers (BICS) for children in foster care to address developmental issues, behavioural concerns, trauma and loss and grief for the children placed in their care.   The second component is providing clinical consultation and brief direct services to the Family Support Counsellors regarding crisis management and developmental support with a trauma focused lens. 

 

This position reports to the Program Manager of the Family Support Network.

The Multi-organ Transplant Social Worker provides psychosocial services to patients at Children’s and Women’s Hospital (C&W), who are placed on the transplant list for solid organ transplants and provides services to patients under the care of the Multi-organ Transplant Program.  This leading-edge transplantation often involves relocation and other major disruptions to family life, resulting in uncertainty and increased anxiety.  Advanced therapeutic social work skills are required to help patients and families cope over many years.  This includes an advanced level of clinical counselling, education and consultation services to patients, families, staff and community centers from across the province and country to prepare and cope with social, emotional and family impact around decision-making, hospitalization, associated losses, including the aftermath and life adjustments of solid organ transplantation.    The Social Worker also provides leadership and consultation to satellite programs around the province on psychosocial issues and needs of children, youth and families coping with transplantation.  This includes liaising with centers throughout North America to ensure quality and continuity of psychosocial care for children and their families who travel between centers for transplantation.  The Social Worker provides leadership on best practices through education and research both nationally and internationally.  The Social Worker functions in an interprofessional environment and is responsible for fostering a positive treatment milieu, policies, and routines that are attuned to cultural, religious and ethnic differences.  The incumbent sees patients and families in the out-patient clinics, during hospital admissions, outside of clinic times and in scheduled meetings.  The Social Worker follows the patient and family through all transitions of care including: transplantation treatment decisions, transplantation, transition to other hospitals and return to care in BC, transition to adult care and in some cases palliative care and end-of-life care.  The incumbent works closely with the Renal Social Worker to transfer cases at opportune times.

The Volunteer’s Role

 

Cuso International Colombia is looking for a volunteer like you to support our partner, Organizaciones Solidarias in theirn implementation of a local volunteering program.

You'll work with your local colleagues to strengthen the volunteering sector in Colombia through governmental, civil society and youth coalition initiatives. There are three areas of volunteering development that the partner organization is hoping to implement - with the public sector pilot program, youth/university volunteering and strategic partners like Alianza Social Uniandina, and lastly, the National Volunteering System - the umbrella platform for local volunteering in Colombia. Contrary to Canadian culture, volunteering in Colombia is usually regarded as work for non-professionals and/or recent graduates. Organizaciones Solidarias is working to change the volunteering culture in Colombia with your help.

We'll ask you to guide our partner in strategic support to each sector which may mean being flexible to the needs and schedules of each sector, keeping in mind that the goal is strengthen and promote volunteering in Colombia.

As a volunteer, you will:

- Carry out a technical review of the National Volunteering System and the assistance provided by Organizaciones Solidarias as well as the needs of the regional chapters.

- Support the implementation of volunteer programs and strategies with public entities at the state level through capacity building and training to public sector teams - mainly with the DIAN.

- Conduct capacity building and training to the members of the regional chapters of the National Volunteer System and youth volunteering programs.
