Celebrating National Social Work Month: Social Workers Defending Social Programs for a Stronger Canada
National Social Work Month
Every March, social workers across Canada join together in celebrating our profession. National Social Work Month (NSWM) provides opportunities to promote the profession, strengthen our individual practices, and highlight the issues that directly affect the people we serve.
As a result of the accelerated changes to social programs Canada is experiencing at the national level, CASW and the Canadian Association for Social Work Education (CASWE) jointly proclaimed ‘Social Workers Defending Social Programs for a Stronger Canada the theme for NSWM 2013 on March 1st. Stay tuned during NSWM for the release of a new CASW policy paper, ‘The Canada Social Transfer and the Social Determinants of Health’ as well as for the launch of CASW’s on-line Defending Social Programs campaign.
