Welcome to ACSW's Supervision and Mentorship Resources!
The purpose of these resources are to connect supervisors with supervisees and mentors with mentees. This contributes to the overall advancement and strength of social work practice in Alberta.
Supervision is a formal relationship with the goal of developing the competence and theoretical practice of the supervisee. Supervisors provide all or a portion of the 1500 hours of supervised practical experience that social workers require to be listed on the General Registry.
Mentors contribute to the mentee's personal development by sharing expertise, values, skills, perspectives and proficiencies. The mentoring relationship is supportive, does not involve evaluation and can consist of as few as 3 sessions or last up to a year.
