Working From A Racial Equity Lens - Category A Day



This workshop will open the conversation on race and racism to explore what these terms mean, how racism impacts our work and communities and why it persists. 

Workshop Objectives:

  • Develop a common language and understanding of the terms race, racism, and racialization
  • Understand the different dimensions racism operates on (individual, internalized, institutional and systemic)
  • Begin to look at what is means to work from a racial equity lens 

Workshop Time:  2:00 - 5:00 PM

Presenter:

Kaitlin Lauridsen

Kaitlin Lauridsen is a Senior Consultant with CRC Consulting, the consulting arm of the non-profit, the Centre for Race and Culture. A passionate facilitator, Kaitlin has facilitated to hundreds of people on topics of race, racism, inclusion and interculturalism. Kaitlin’s educational background is in public health where her research explored racism as a determinant of health, and why anti-racism education is a public health strategy. In her spare time Kaitlin is an avid outdoors woman whom you can find hiking and camping in the Rockies. 

Attendance Requirements:  

In order to receive the 3 Category A credits participants must attend for the entire workshop.
Partial credits will not be provided.

Fees:

$25 for RSW and ACSW members

$15 for ACSW student members

$20 for other social work students

$50 for all other participants

Light snacks will be provided.
