This Conference is for professionals and those who serve and support youth who are involved in high-risk behaviours. The conference has a strong focus on research, knowledge and interventions that are effective in supporting youth who struggle with early childhood trauma, family breakdown, and involvement with addictions, the criminal justice system, who struggle with mental health challenges and disabilities, and who we call "the disconnected" due to their lack of healthy connections, a lack of belonging, and a view of the world being a sad, lonely, hostile and frightening place to live. We need to continue pushing the shift from traditional punishment-based interventions to relationship-based practice in order to better meet the needs of this population. We can learn from each other and journey together.
