Poverty in Canada: What Have Rights Got to Do With It?

Join Leilani Farha, leading international human rights expert and U.N. Special Rapporteur on Housing, for this exciting course on poverty and human rights. Taking an active learning approach, this intensive course will provide participants with the knowledge and skills to engage and address poverty in Canada as a violation of human rights.

Register for a 1-day introductory workshop (Nov. 7) or for the full 3-day course (Nov. 7-9).

Objectives of the course:
- Understand the dynamics of poverty in Canada
- Understand the United Nations human rights system
- Understand the obligations of governments to ensure enjoyment of socio-economic rights by vulnerable groups
- Understand the relationship between human rights, social policy and institutions
- Understand how rights can be used to effect change locally and nationally.

This graduate level course is offered in conjunction with the M.A. in Leadership and Ministry program. Presented by the Canadian Poverty Institute at Ambrose University.
