Healing as a Process

Indigenous families are communally based with relationships situated at the core of community and family. This is distinctly different from the western, nuclear-based, individuals-focused family system. 

Objectives for the 2-day Basic Training:

  • Exploration of  the 4 key principles of the Indigenous Family System 

  • Understanding the Indigenous worldview and its 180 degree difference with the western worldview 

  • Understanding Historical Trauma 

  • Experiential learning of the Indigenous worldview 

  • Knowing the challenges of being a Residential School Survivor and the impact that has on the family system

  • Understanding the challenges of living in two worlds 

  • Practical tools for use in reducing the trauma factors for individuals, couples and families
